Project Sousa exists to provide a central repository for public domain band music, freely available to everyone. Secondarily, we also provide public domain music for ensembles, keyboards, orchestras, and vocal works.

Want To Help?

We can sure use your help with Project Sousa! Here are some examples of things you can do.

Older band music is frequently furnished with Db Piccolo and Eb Horn parts. We need people to convert these parts to C piccolo and F Horn parts, and to create a Baritone T.C. part from the Baritone B.C. part.

We need people to enter older arrangements into Finale.

Many older tunes, especially those on march-size paper, do not come with a score. The solo cornet part frequently doubles as a score. We need people to create good condensed scores for us.

We Want ANYTHING In The Public Domain

We particularly want BAND MUSIC in the public domain.

This means any music that:

  • Was published in the United States before 1923, or in another country and now is in the public domain in both the country of publication and in the United States
  • You wrote and have donated to the public domain or to Project Sousa
  • You arranged from a piece of music in the public domain, and have donated the arrangement to the public domain or to Project Sousa
